To be honest, I don't know that hummingbirds feed from the flowers of the dogwood. I'm not sure that they would even get enough nourishment from the small flower clusters. Call it "Artistic License" if you will, however I grouped these two subjects together in the same painting for purely selfish reasons. They remind me of two of the things I would miss the most if I should ever have cause to leave this country.
