The elk is one of the odder creatures to be used as a design, as a prey animal to put it on your totem pole is to invite trouble, deer and elk are seen as weak and prey creatures. Usually being eaten by something stronger or hunted by men Elk and deer can be found on other smaller items. Though they are also seen as life bringers and revered for there swiftness and agility.
